
Gamescom 2025: all the announcements and surprises from Opening Night Live
We review, minute by minute, all the premieres, sequels, and DLCs presented at the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2025
The Gamescom 2025 kicked off yesterday in Cologne, Germany, with an Opening Night Live full of new announcements. Geoff Keighley hosted the event, which featured trailers, announcements, and world premieres of video games for all tastes.
From console debuts to DLCs and highly anticipated sequels, we review everything that was revealed, minute by minute.

Preview and first announcements
Before the official event, there was a half-hour pre-show highlighting independent and original games. Among them:
- Denshattack!: a platformer with trains and skate-style acrobatics, developed by Undercoders (Spain), will arrive in 2026.
- Outlaws Remaster: classic 1997 western renewed by Nightdive Studios for multiple consoles.
- Valor Mortis: soulslike set in an alternate Europe, from the creators of Ghostrunner, available in 2026.
- Absolum: beat 'em up roguelite, debuting on October 9 on PS, Switch, and PC.
- Bubsy 4D: return of the iconic cat from the 90s, with 3D platforming and new characters.

Official start of the ceremony
Opening Night Live began with Geoff Keighley confirming the release of Hollow Knight Silksong this year. Then the following were presented:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7: single-player and co-op campaign, 6v6 multiplayer, Skirmish mode, and zombies. Launches on November 14.
- Lords of the Fallen 2: new installment of this soulslike, will arrive in 2026.
- Sekiro: No Defeat: anime based on the acclaimed game, exclusive to Crunchyroll.
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight: action and platforming, release in 2026.
- Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV: four playable factions, debuting in 2026.

Other world premieres and sequels
Among the most anticipated:
- Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV collaboration in October.
- Trailers for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Ninja Gaiden 4, Silent Hill f, and La Divina Commedia.
- Updates for The Outer Worlds 2, Moonlighter 2, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.
- DLCs such as Indiana Jones: The Order of the Giants and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Legacy of the Forge.
- Expansions for Cult of the Lamb and World of Warcraft: Midnight.
- New FPS Project Spectrum and World of Tanks: Heat, as well as Ghost of Yotei Legends with multiplayer mode.
- Musical and narrative debuts such as UNBEATABLE and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
- Final surprise: Black Myth: Zhong Kui, sequel to the successful Chinese saga.
