Garrahan Hospital formally requested theremoval of parliamentary immunity from ten union leaders in order to move forward with their dismissals, after they led the illegal occupation of the offices of the hospital's management in October 2025. In addition, another 29 people will receive disciplinary sanctions for their participation in the events.
The episode, led by sectors of ATE and APyT, consisted of the violent intrusion into key administrative areas of the hospital, where institutional functioning was interrupted and the staff present was held. The situation caused a strong internal alarm because it is a public hospital that is a national and regional pediatric reference.

According to the hospital authorities, the conflict began after the decision of the Board of Directors to apply salary deductions for days not worked during recent strike actions, in compliance with current regulations and with the attendance policy that applies to all staff. Far from being a legitimate labor claim, Garrahan's management indicated that the union reaction replied to a politically motivated maneuver.
In that regard, they emphasized that the actions of these sectors sought to paralyze management and impose partisan interests within a critical health institution, putting the care of thousands of children at risk. The hospital was categorical: violence, pressure, and union coercion won't be allowed to become acceptable methods of operation.

Despite the attempts at destabilization, Garrahan's administration stressed that management continues normally. The hospital's budget is guaranteed, the remunerative bonuses for staff remain in force, and construction works, equipment acquisitions, and modernization projects of more than 30 billion pesos are moving forward, financed with the hospital's own resources as a result of efficient and transparent administration.
The authorities underlined that Garrahan Hospital isn't a space for political activism or a union spoils system, but an institution devoted exclusively to caring for children and their families. In that vein, they reaffirmed their commitment to defend the hospital's prestige, the work of the medical team and, above all, the patients' right to receive quality care without ideological interference.
