In a context of growing concern about social degradation in the Buenos Aires suburbs, a new shocking episode once again focused on the critical situation in the province of Buenos Aires. The series of recent events linked to the abandonment of newborns and fetuses reveals an alarming picture that exposes profound flaws in provincial management. The most recent case occurred in the town of Villa Diamante, Lanús district, where a fetus was found dead inside a plastic bucket on the banks of the Riachuelo.
The discovery occurred this Friday morning, when a 40-year-old neighbor who was passing through the area detected a suspicious container at the intersection of Carlos Pellegrini and José María Moreno streets, a few meters from a bus stop.Immediately, the man notified 911, which prompted the rapid intervention of police personnel patrolling the area. Upon arrival, officers from the Quinta de Lanús Police Station found that inside the bucket was the body of a female fetus. A SAME doctor verified that she had no vital signs. According to police sources, the place was immediately preserved and the intervention of experts was requested to initiate the corresponding actions.
The case was intervened by the Functional Investigation Unit No. 8 of Avellaneda-Lanús, specialized in family and gender-based violence, under the orders of prosecutor María Wilhelm, who ordered a series of steps to determine the circumstances of the abandonment and identify the mother or possible perpetrators.
The episode is not isolated. Just a few days ago, on March 28, another similar case shook José C. Paz's party. There, a fetus of approximately 35 weeks of gestation was found among garbage bags, next to the San Martín train tracks and near the Sol y Verde station.
