This Tuesday, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced that the sanction of Eduardo Coudet has been fulfilled, and the coach will be able to return to the bench this Wednesday against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.
The decision was made official through the Bulletin No. 6923 Bis of the Disciplinary Tribunal, which stated: "The sanction of head coach Eduardo Germán Coudet of Club River Plate is considered fulfilled. Art. 25 of the Disciplinary Code".
Due to the suspension, "Chacho" was unable to be present at the Millionaire's debut in the Clausura Tournament, when the team lost 1-0 to Barracas Central. In that match, the one in charge of directing the Núñez team was Ariel Broggi, one of his assistants, who joined the coaching staff for this season.
The AFA's resolution on Coudet's sanction
The sanction originated after the final of the Apertura Tournament against Belgrano. After the temporary equalizer by the Córdoba team from a penalty awarded by Yael Falcón Pérez, Coudet had a heated exchange with the referee and, once the match was over, continued his complaints. The referee's report reflected insults and offenses towards the referee, which led the Tribunal to impose a two-match suspension.
However, the AFA decided to apply article 25 of the Disciplinary Code, which empowers disciplinary bodies to suspend a sanction totally or partially and subject the offender to a probationary period. If a similar offense occurs during that probationary period, the Tribunal may revoke the suspension of the sanction. In that case, the original penalty must be served, in addition to any penalty received for the new offense.
With this resolution, Coudet will return to coach River in the away match against Gimnasia, where he will attempt to end the negative streak and achieve the team's first victory in the second semester.
