The National Government, through the Undersecretary of University Policies of the Nation, Alejandro “El Profe” Álvarez, sent a formal note to the rector of the National University of Mar del Plata, Mónica Biasone, demanding an immediate response to the acts of violence that occurred within the institution.
The official intervention came after allegations of physical and verbal attacks by the left against students from the CREAR+ Libertad group, which had set up a stand on the premises, emerged. As stated in the communication, the incidents violated basic principles such as freedom of expression, democratic coexistence and security within the university
.
In the document, the Undersecretary points out that the rector is primarily responsible for ensuring normal institutional functioning and respect for constitutional rights within the establishment. In this sense, he is required to act quickly to prevent violence, intolerance and censorship from consolidating as common practices in the
academic field.In addition, it is warned that a possible delay or lack of action could result in administrative responsibilities and even legal consequences. The proposal not only aims to clarify what happened, but also to mark a limit in the face of episodes that, according to the Government, threaten the plurality of ideas in spaces that should promote
