Garrahan Hospital bought 310 beds in an investment exceeding $1.4 billion and is moving forward with a construction plan

Garrahan Hospital received the first 42 beds out of a total of 310 state-of-the-art units that will replace equipment that is 38 years old. The total investment amounts to $1.453 billion and will make it possible to renew 100% of the inpatient beds.
The new units are part of the most important construction plan in the hospital's history. This project includes a total investment of $30 billion and includes expansions, renovations, and the acquisition of medical equipment.

State-of-the-art technology for pediatric patients
The beds that were incorporated are electrically operated, with remote control and a capacity of up to 210 kilos (463 pounds). They have lifting systems with silent, low-consumption motors, height adjustment, backrest tilt, and regulation of the angle of knees and legs.
The model that was acquired is the Paramount Bed Series A5 – Mod. CA-54380, manufactured by the Japanese company Paramount Bed, which specializes in high-complexity hospital equipment.
In order to define the technical characteristics, orderlies, nurses, and doctors from the hospital participated, evaluating the specific needs of patients and health personnel.
The acquisition was carried out through a public bidding process whose envelopes were opened in December. According to Executive Medical Director Dr. Mariano Pirozzo, 10 companies submitted 29 bids.
"It was a milestone in transparency", the executive pointed out. He also stated: "With efficiency we managed to generate the necessary savings to launch the largest infrastructure plan in Garrahan's history."

A comprehensive modernization plan
Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni highlighted the incorporation on his social networks and wrote:"Garrahan Hospital has received the first 42 beds out of a total of 310. This incorporation is added to the Pediatric Linear Accelerator for the treatment of oncology patients that has been in the hospital since December".
Adorni took the opportunity to recall the media and Kirchnerist activist campaigns regarding the pediatric hospital. "They said that 'Garrahan was underfunded' and that 'the government doesn't care about children,' but it was only a crude operation in the middle of an electoral campaign", he wrote.
He concluded: "Today Garrahan has a clear objective: to be the best pediatric hospital in Latin America".

The infrastructure program includes a new inpatient area, renovation of rooms and bathrooms, and expansion of nursing stations. It also introduces improvements in rest areas for doctors and the acquisition of equipment for operating rooms.
With the complete renewal of the beds and the incorporation of state-of-the-art medical technology, the hospital is beginning a stage of structural modernization aimed at improving the quality of care and strengthening patient safety.
