The Government will conduct an international audit on the Paraná-Paraguay waterway
The measure aims to ensure that the process takes place in an environment of fair competition and without privileges
In a new step toward greater transparency in one of the country's strategic sectors, the Government of Javier Milei announced this Tuesday that it will carry out an international audit on the bidding of the Paraguay-Paraná waterway.
According to confirmed the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, the procedure will be conducted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed with the National Agency of Ports and Navigable Waterways.
During his usual press conference at Casa Rosada, Adorni explained that the audit will analyze in detail the specifications and all procedures related to the bidding process of the waterway.

The Paraguay-Paraná waterway is a river navigation system of enormous relevance for the national and regional economy. Through this route, approximately 80% of Argentine exports of goods are transported, making it a essential channel for foreign trade and the country's competitiveness.
Adorni also reported that, in addition to the international control, an audit will be launched by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition. This measure aims to ensure that the process develops "in an environment of fair competition and without privileges," he emphasized.
"It is necessary that whoever operates it has the sufficient capacity to do so according to the highest international standards and the best price," highlighted Adorni, who reaffirmed Milei's Government's commitment to efficiency and the proper use of public resources.

The decision comes in a context where different sectors had been demanding greater transparency and participation around a project that involves million-dollar investments and a high logistical impact. With this audit, the Government seeks to send a clear message of openness, institutional control, and guarantees for all involved parties.
The bidding process and its future awards will now be subject to monitoring by both national and international organizations. This measure seeks to combat irregularities and ensure that the concession of this vital artery for the Argentine economy benefits society as a whole.
