The investigation into the homicide of Milagros Bastos has entered a new chapter with the activation of an Interpol alert to locate Javier Grasso. The brother of former police officer Horacio Grasso has been sought since August 14, when he was charged with concealment. The decision was made after a connection was discovered with a judicial case in Paraguay.
Prosecutor José Bringas ordered the international search after confirming that Grasso attempted to hide in the neighboring country. The judiciary links him to previous maneuvers, where he allegedly faked a gender identity change. That ruse allowed him at the time to be transferred to a women's prison and delay a robbery case.
The victim's family, represented by attorney Carlos Nayi, became a plaintiff in the case. The lawyer called for swift action and questioned the lack of controls that allowed the escape. For Milagros's relatives, Grasso's capture is key to preventing a greater level of impunity.

The Grasso clan's background
The case has kept Córdoba on edge due to the criminal record surrounding the Grasso surname. Horacio, a former police officer convicted of the homicide of "Facundito" Novillo, now faces charges for Bastos's homicide. The 22-year-old woman was found dead inside a closet in the former officer's home.
Meanwhile, Javier Grasso was implicated by the evidence collected at the scene and his alleged subsequent collaboration. The prosecution believes his role was decisive in covering up for his brother in the days following the crime. His absence since August 14 triggered an operation that was first expanded nationwide and then regionally.
The Interpol alert means that more than 190 countries are now authorized to intervene in his capture. The strategy aims to close escape routes in the region and ensure that the accused is brought before the Córdoba judiciary.
