The Israel Defense Forces reported on Wednesday that they carried out airstrikes on Hamas targets in various locations in the Gaza Strip, after members of the terrorist group opened fire on Israeli troops in the Khan Younis area. The incident occurred in the morning and, according to the official statement, no soldiers were injured.
The attack took place in the eastern sector of the so-called Yellow Line, an area under Israeli control and regulated by the conditions of the ceasefire in effect since October 10. For military authorities, the aggression constitutes a direct violation of the agreement, which enabled an immediate response aimed at preventing further hostile actions by Hamas.
Israeli actions to contain terrorist abuses
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has carried out targeted operations in Gaza whenever it detected illicit movements by the Islamist group. On Saturday, Israeli artillery replied to hostile activities in the north and south of the enclave, in areas such as Shujaiya and the Rafah coast, according to local reports.

Since the truce came into effect, Hamas has maintained actions that forced the Israeli Army to respond selectively, always preserving humanitarian corridors and avoiding harm to civilians, a priority repeatedly emphasized by the Jerusalem government.
The UN approves a new security framework based on Trump's plan
Meanwhile, amid the regional escalation, the UN Security Council approved on Monday a resolution promoted by the United States and based on President Donald Trump's 20-point plan. The text, endorsed by 13 votes in favor and with abstentions from China and Russia, establishes the creation of an International Security Force (ISF) with a mandate until December 2027.
The main objective of this force will be to secure Gaza's borders with Israel and Egypt, protect civilians, ensure the operation of humanitarian corridors, and form a new Palestinian police force that is not infiltrated by Hamas. The measure aims to prevent the terrorist group from regaining strength and to stabilize the situation in the enclave.
Support from the United States and diplomatic backing for Israel
During the session, U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz welcomed the Council's support and emphasized that this resolution closes the door to a possible reconstitution of Hamas. He also noted that the new framework will allow urgent needs of the civilian population to be addressed without yielding ground to terrorism.

Israel participated in the meeting and supported the initiative, stating that international security control and the presence of a professionalized force are essential steps to ensure long-term peace and prevent new aggressions by the Islamist group.
A regional scenario in transition
The combination of ceasefire violations by Hamas, Israeli defensive responses, and the new international framework promoted by the United States marks a transitional stage in the region. Israel keeps its firm stance: it will not tolerate attacks against its troops nor allow terrorism to regain operational capacity.
Meanwhile, the international community is moving toward a more robust and coordinated security model, with the goal of consolidating a stable order that protects civilians, limits Hamas's abuses, and promotes the reconstruction of Gaza under modern and controlled standards.
