Hideki Kamiya explodes over the leaks of 'Resident Evil Requiem'

A few days before the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, leaked videos and content from the game are already circulating on the Internet. The situation triggered a strong reaction from Hideki Kamiya, a historic director of the franchise.

The creator of Resident Evil 2 and founder of Clover Studio strongly criticized those who spread unauthorized material. He did so through the social network X, where he questioned the impact of these practices on developers and players.

Hideki Kamiya's anger over the leaks

Kamiya recalled a similar experience during the launch of Resident Evil 2. According to his explanation, at that time a magazine published a key image from the game ahead of time.

In his message, he described those who share spoilers as "selfish." He argued that they do not take into account the players who are waiting to discover the story on their own.

He also stated that the leaks "trample" the work of the development team. The designer was blunt in his statements and targeted those who spread the content before the official release.

Capcom confirmed the circulation of illegal copies

The Japanese company Capcom had already issued an official statement. There it reported that gameplay videos obtained from physical copies acquired illegally were circulating.

The company asked people to stop sharing those materials. It pointed out that this is a copyright infringement and that it harms both the company and consumers.

Release date and platforms

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will be the new main installment in Capcom's horror franchise.

According to the first impressions published by specialized media, the game will present a narrative duality between the characters Leon and Grace. The company is aiming to maintain the franchise's classic tone with a renewed proposal.
