Resident Evil Requiem aims high in both technical aspects and gameplay. Capcom has confirmed that its next main installment will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5 Pro, with advanced performance options.

The information was detailed by the game's director in an official statement. The statement also reviewed new features in gameplay, protagonists and the approach that this ambitious new stage of the saga will have.

PS5 Pro: 4K, 60 FPS and configurable ray tracing

According to Akishi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil Requiem, the PS5 Pro version will offer an optimized experience. Players will be able to enable or disable ray tracing according to their preference.

With ray tracing enabled, the game will run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. In addition, those who have compatible displays will be able to unlock frame rates of up to 120 FPS, with an estimated average close to 90 FPS.

A story marked by Raccoon City's past

Resident Evil Requiem will be the ninth main installment in the franchise. The story follows Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst who investigates a series of strange deaths at the Wrenwood Hotel, located in Raccoon City.

The location is not random: Grace's mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, was murdered there eight years earlier. The events take place about 30 years after the events of Resident Evil 3, connecting directly with the saga's darkest past.

Leon S. Kennedy returns with action and new mechanics

Capcom has also confirmed the return of Leon S. Kennedy as a playable protagonist. His gameplay will focus on more physical and direct action, with clear influences from Resident Evil 4.

Among the new features, new melee mechanics stand out, such as the use of an axe for parries and counterattacks, as well as a more dynamic combat system.

Leon will investigate a series of incidents linked to the scientist Victor Gideon, expanding the plot from a more explosive perspective.

Two protagonists, two styles of horror

While Leon represents visceral action, Grace will be associated with psychological horror, exploration and vulnerability. Capcom has confirmed that each character will have different camera approaches.

The game will incorporate new types of zombies, with unpredictable behaviors and human traits that reinforce discomfort and suspense.
