Juan Martín del Potro took another step toward tennis immortality. The Tandil native was nominated for the 2026 Class of the International Hall of Fame, sharing the candidacy with prominent figures such as Roger Federer and Russian SvetlanaKuznetsova. The distinction, which was made official this Wednesday, places him among the possible inductees to the museum located in Rhode Island, United States.

The selection process requires each candidate to obtain at least 75% affirmative votes from the Voting Group (composed of 140 journalists, historians, and Hall of Fame members) or a combination of that percentage with the fan vote, which will be open until October 10. The results will be announced in November.
After the announcement, Delpo expressed his gratitude for the nomination on his social media: "What an honor and what a privilege to be nominated for such recognition. Thank you very much, Tennis Hall of Fame".

It should be noted that, if selected, the Tandil native will be the third Argentine to join this select group of players after the inductions of Guillermo Vilas (1991) and Gabriela Sabatini (2006).
His spectacular tennis career
Throughout his professional career, the "Tower of Tandil" won 22 titles, highlighted by his triumph at the 2009 US Open, as well as two Olympic medals (bronze in London 2012 and silver in Rio 2016). However, his successes are not limited to the individual level, as he also was part of the Argentine delegation that won the Davis Cup in 2016, the first in the country's history.

Regarding his overall performance, Del Potro achieved 439 victories and 174 defeats, and had the privilege of defeating the three greats of his era: Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, the latter still active.
