After seven years of development, Hollow Knight: Silksong now has a release date: September 4, 2025. The highly anticipated sequel to the successful Hollow Knight will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with direct access from day one through Xbox Game Pass.
A wait that lasted more than seven years
The announcement marks the end of one of the longest and most talked-about waits in the indie industry. Since 2017, Team Cherry's followers have been alert to every clue and rumor, fueling expectations on social media. The Australian studio, known for its secrecy, worked for years on mechanics, environments, and gameplay systems that far surpass what was seen in the first installment.

The Gamescom 2025 demo anticipated a remarkable leap in quality: greater complexity, challenging combat, and a range of moves for the protagonist Hornet, which excited both veteran and new players alike.
Hornet, new environments, and more dynamic combat
In this sequel, players will control Hornet, protector of Hallownest, who will explore a new kingdom ruled by silk and music. The environments promise to be varied and expansive, including coral forests, golden cities, moss-covered caverns, and landscapes shrouded in mist.
