The President and CEO of YPF, Horacio Marín,announced that this week there will be a decrease in fuel prices in Argentina. The estimated reduction is 2% in gasoline; and according to his explanation, the adjustment will be applied gradually and with differences depending on the region.
"Every day a little bit, not the same everywhere", Marín clarified in a conversation with Luis Majul on LN+. In that regard, he specified that the price reduction will be, on average, the indicated percentage at the national level.

The head of the oil company explained that since he took office at the end of 2023, he has promoted a "honesty agreement with consumers". This is based on prices following the evolution of market variables. "The price goes up or down according to supply and demand", he stated.
Marín detailed that the company conducts ongoing monitoring of the factors that affect the final price of fuels. As a result of that analysis, the announced reduction can be confirmed today. Regarding diesel, he indicated that "one has to go up and one has to go down".
Support for labor reform and sector competitiveness
During the interview, the CEO of YPF also referred to the labor reform bill promoted by the national Government, which he expressed his support for. He pointed out that this is a discussion that has been ongoing for years and that changes are necessary to adapt to a different global context. "The world has changed so much that we need to modernize," he stated.

In particular, he highlighted the importance of modernizing the labor framework for the energy sector. "In the energy sector we need to modernize because, to achieve the numbers we are achieving, YPF and all the companies have to be competitive", he explained. He clarified that this must be the case "because our oil and gas compete with the North American 'Vacas Muertas'", he added.
Along those lines, he said: "Geology helps us, but we have to be as efficient as they are in order to export for 20 years. That's why our sector is so important, because productivity has to be defined by the companies."
Government balance and the role of Vaca Muerta
When asked for his assessment of the two years of President Javier Milei's administration, Marín replied: "I am as happy as I am with YPF". In that regard, he emphasized the importance of having a Government that promotes an open country oriented toward the free market to boost exports and attract investment.

"YPF could not do well without a country undergoing transformations", he stated. He also highlighted the central role the company plays in the development of Vaca Muerta together with the rest of the industry.
"By developing such a valuable asset, which is better than any similar field in the United States, we generate this wealth and extract it from the ground. That is our contribution so that Argentina can develop," he concluded.
