Mayor Alicio earns 3 million pesos. They report a lack of management and an oversized staff

Mayor Pablo Alicio promoted an increase in municipal taxes that reaches up to 70% in La Cumbre. This hike far exceeds the annual inflation rate and puts pressure on the private sector in a recessionary context. It is one of the highest tax increases recorded in the interior of the province.
Residents warn that the adjustment seeks to finance a political structure that is oversized for the scale of the town. The municipality has more than 20 officials and around 400 employees for a population of just 10,000 inhabitants. The high public spending doesn't translate into visible improvements in the provision of services.
The municipal wage gap generates controversy: the mayor receives about $3,000,000 per month while the employees earn $400,000. This disparity occurs in an administration where only 20% of taxpayers meet their obligations. They also report the hiring of relatives and political activists without technical experience for the positions.

Lack of direction and stagnation
The town lost its tourism positioning because the municipality became an expensive obstacle to private investment. While other areas grow thanks to the drive of their entrepreneurs, in La Cumbre fiscal voracity stifles any attempt at genuine development. The private sector must sustain activity despite the municipal state, which absorbs profitability through high taxes without offering competitive conditions.
The management model shows signs of exhaustion after more than 20 years of political hegemony in power. The administration remains aligned with provincial Kirchnerism under the historic influence of former senator Carlos Caserio. The lack of municipal austerity contrasts with the economic effort that is demanded of residents.
The priorities of public spending are questioned after scandals over irregular purchases of hospital supplies became known. Administrative inefficiency and the constant increase in taxes push citizens toward informality. The local government seems disconnected from the real infrastructure and development needs.

The opposition consolidates an alternative
In this scenario, La Libertad Avanza is positioning itself as a competitive option to contest the mayoralty. The group, whose representative in La Cumbre is Facundo Cepeda, is strengthening its territorial structure after the results of the latest elections. They seek to put an end to administrative mismanagement and restore efficiency to the municipality.
The objective is to offer a way out of the current scheme of high taxes and poor services. Alicio's administration faces the natural wear and tear caused by poor management of resources.
