The wrestling icon, who suffered from multiple health issues, passed away at his Florida home due to cardiac arrest
Hulk Hogan, one of the most iconic figures in world wrestling, died at age 71 at his home in Florida, the victim of a cardiac arrest. The news was confirmed by doctors to the American outlet TMZ, the same outlet that weeks earlier had reported that the former wrestler was in serious condition.
His passing marks the end of an era: Hogan was the one who popularized professional wrestling globally, becoming synonymous with WWE and the protagonist of historic moments both inside and outside the ring.
A few weeks ago, his wife Sky had come out to deny reports claiming that Hogan was in a coma. She even stated that his heart was "strong" after neck surgery, attempting to convey reassurance amid persistent rumors.
However, concern had grown when TMZ, at the end of June, had reported that the wrestler was "on his deathbed." Finally, it was the same outlet that confirmed the news of his death on Thursday, July 24.
Deteriorating health in recent years
Although he had recently been seen active on social media and at events, the truth is that Hogan had been suffering from serious health problems for years. In 2013, he filed a 50-million-dollar lawsuit against a medical firm for alleged negligence. There, he claimed that he was convinced to undergo six unnecessary spinal surgeries, which worsened his ailments.
In 2023, he underwent surgery that ended up severely affecting him. Doctors damaged a nerve and since then, his body was compromised from the waist down, which severely affected his mobility.
