Thousands of Palestinians march against the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip

The protesters demanded the end of Hamas's dictatorship and the release of the Israeli hostages

In an uncommon event in the Gaza Strip, controlled by the terrorist group Hamas, thousands of Palestinian citizens marched in the northern city of Beit Lahiya with white flags, demanding the end of Hamas's dictatorship and calling for the release of Israeli hostages.

The protest took place in front of the Indonesian Hospital, in the north of the strip, where a protester, while recording the events, questioned the lack of coverage by the Qatari network Al-Jazeera and its correspondent in Gaza, Anas Sharif. This comment referred to the lack of criticism by the channel of Hamas's policies.

"The people demand that the press cover these events!" exclaimed a Palestinian protester. "The people demand freedom, the cessation of hostilities against Gaza, peace, and the end of this war," added another.

Amid the protest, chants like "Out, out, out! Hamas, out!", "Where is the press?", and "We want to live!" were heard, while the protesters' signs carried messages like "We refuse to be the ones who die" and "Stop the war!".

In another video, hundreds of people could be seen marching through the streets of Beit Lahya. The person recording commented: "Large crowds are protesting against Hamas's government. The situation in Gaza is catastrophic. The people here are asking for the release of the prisoners to be able to continue living", likely referring to the Israeli hostages still in captivity.

This demonstration reflects the grave situation within Gaza, where some Palestinian citizens oppose Hamas's dictatorship and the consequences of the conflict with Israel in the region.

"Hamas demands that our people stand firm. But how can we stand firm when we are dying and bleeding? Hamas must stop what is happening in Gaza... We are sending a message to the entire world: we reject Hamas's government," stated another protester.

Another cameraman, while recording the images, commented: "Rivers of people are marching to end Hamas's government and stop the war in Gaza".

This type of demonstration, although extremely rare, is not the first in the Gaza Strip under Hamas's control for several years.

In January 2024, smaller and sporadic protests also opposed Hamas's policies, suggesting that the discontent of Gaza's citizens against their government is not isolated.

Some of the protesters' slogans recall the "Bidna N'eesh" ("we want to live") movement, which organized similar protests in 2020 and 2023, and which some linked to Hamas's rival faction, Fatah.

However, in all cases, Hamas reacted with speed and brutality to repress these demonstrations, violently silencing any form of internal opposition.
