Sales of hybrid and electric cars showed strong growth again in June 2026, with year-on-year increases of up to 1,630% in electric vehicles, according to figures from registrations.
While electric vehicles are accelerating their expansion driven by BYD, hybrids are maintaining solid growth and consolidating a record year for electrified vehicles in Argentina.

The electrified car market continues to set records
Despite the overall decline in the automotive market during 2026, the hybrid and electric car segment is experiencing a record year.

Although it still represents a small portion of the total market, no other segment is experiencing such rapid growth.
The report highlights that the government's quota for importing electrified vehicles without tariffs has boosted sales. However, it also warns that the expansion could be constrained by the annual limit of 50,000 units included in that benefit.
In this context, BYD has already begun to import some of its vehicles outside the quota, paying the 35% tariff when demand justifies it.
