Illegal operation dismantled in Villa Nueva and 1,400 kilograms (3,086 pounds) of meat seized

An unlicensed establishment was shut down, and spoiled meat, live animals, and slaughter equipment were seized

A major operation was carried out in the city of Córdoba Villa Nueva, in the General San Martín department, with the involvement of multiple official agencies. Technicians from the Ministry of Bioagroindustry, SENASA, and the Southern Division of the Rural Patrol led the procedures. The action aimed to verify possible illegal activities related to the commercialization of meat products.

On site, authorities found facilities for slaughtering animals, cold storage rooms, and a deboning room without the required permits. According to Bioagroindustry, the sanitary conditions were inadequate and did not guarantee food safety. For that reason, authorities proceeded with the immediate closure of the intervened establishment.

Authorities seized approximately 1,400 kilograms (3,086 pounds) of beef and pork that were stored without the required sanitary controls. Authorities also confiscated items and equipment used for the slaughter and preservation of meat products. All seized material was transported in accordance with current regulations.

Authorities also seized live animals and initiated a sanitary protocol

During the inspection, authorities placed 278 cattle, 56 pigs, 20 sheep, and 26 goats under interdiction that were intended to be slaughtered clandestinely. The animals were placed under preventive quarantine and will be subject to vaccination protocols while their origin is investigated. The measure seeks to preserve public health and animal welfare in rural areas.

The Ministry reported that "the meat that did not have the required sanitary inspections was transported to an authorized cold storage facility for destruction in a digester." The tasks were carried out in compliance with provincial and national food safety regulations.

The operation is part of an inspection policy to combat clandestine slaughter and prevent health risks to the population. Authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining controls and strengthening food traceability. Official actions will continue in different areas of the province.
