Atlético Mineiro's interest in Kevin Lomónaco remains firm and has taken shape again with a new formal proposal sent to Independiente. With the Brazilian transfer window still open, the club coached by Jorge Sampaoli has offered a loan for500 thousand dollarsand a purchase obligation of7 million net dollars for 70% of the transfer rights of the 24-year-old defender.
In Avellaneda, they received the improved offer, although the core of the negotiation continues to be the same: the amount that would be received immediately. The Red's board intends to increase the initial payment or doesn't even rule out a direct sale to obtain funds in the short term, since most of the money would remain subject to the future mandatory purchase.
Independiente quiere más dinero inmediato
It is not Galo's first attempt to sign Lomónaco. A few days ago, Independiente had rejected an offer that was around 2.4 million dollars, plus the assumption of a 2.6 million debt that the club owes to Bragantino. Currently, Red owns 75% of the center-back's rights, while the remaining 25% belongs to the Brazilian institution.
As negotiations progress and the close of the market in Brazil approaches, the deadline expires between March 3 and 4, Lomónaco continues to be key in Gustavo Quinteros's team. This Sunday, he started in the 1-0 win over Platense, Independiente's first victory in the Apertura Tournament after three consecutive draws.
After the match, Lomónaco himself spoke about his future and made his position clear: "If there is not something that convinces me and that is good for my future, I'm going to stay at Independiente. I don't think about anything other than Independiente".
