Insecurity: an 85-year-old Musician Was Robbed at Gunpoint Meters (yards) From the Obelisk
The robbery that occurred in broad daylight in the heart of Buenos Aires reflects the growing wave of insecurity in the City.
Just meters from the Obelisk, an 85-year-old musician was stripped of his invaluable bandoneon under threat of death, in an act of violence that highlights the lack of control and protection for citizens.
The story of Enrique Fasuolo, a life dedicated to music and marked by tragedy, highlights not only the personal drama but also the lack of protection experienced daily on the streets of the City.
Security in the City of Buenos Aires remains a constant concern for residents and passersby. In the heart of the city, in broad daylight and in front of the indifference of hundreds of witnesses, an armed robbery stripped Enrique Fasuolo, 85, of his bandoneon, a symbol of his artistic life and his passion for music.

Just meters from the Obelisk, a thief pointed a gun at his chest and forced him to hand over the instrument, a 1930 Germania bandoneon, whose value is not only economic but deeply sentimental for the musician.
The musician, visibly affected, stated: "They put a gun to my chest, I was paralyzed and I handed it over". He added with deep sadness: "Now I can't communicate or express myself, the bandoneon was my life companion, I cared for, cleaned, and tuned it like a loved one".
In an act of dignity, despite the violence experienced, Fasuolo added: "I have no resentment, I only trust that I can reunite with it".
This robbery, which occurred during working hours and in one of the busiest areas of the city, highlights the lack of security experienced by the people of Buenos Aires, who often feel powerless in the face of the growing wave of crime that plagues both the capital and the province.

Without police nearby and with no one intervening, Fasuolo handed over his treasure without being able to do anything to defend it. The news caused a wave of outrage in the artistic community, which denounces the lack of protection and the growing urban violence.
In his account, Fasuolo also expressed his shock over the robbery: "I've been robbed before, but never something as traumatic as this. They stole my money, but the bandoneon is everything to me".
The uncertainty of not knowing what will become of the bandoneon and the musician's suffering, who has been a victim of previous robberies but never such a violent threat, underscores the urgent need for a change in public security policies in the City.
Meanwhile, Fasuolo, who has moved thousands with his bandoneon, continues to hope that his life companion, lost in the darkness of insecurity, will return to his hands.
