iOS 26 arrives this Monday with the biggest redesign in iPhone history
Apple unveils iOS 26 this Monday: historic redesign, artificial intelligence, and changes to native apps
Apple is preparing to unveil iOS 26, a version that will mark a turning point in the design of its systems.
The announcement will take place this Monday at the WWDC 2025, featuring aesthetic updates, enhanced artificial intelligence, and major changes in native apps.

Why iOS 26 and not iOS 19?
Apple is jumping directly to iOS 26 to align the numbering with the calendar year. It is skipping iOS 19, 20, 21... up to 25.
The idea is to simplify. The new numbering will also apply to macOS, watchOS, and tvOS to unify all systems.
A historic redesign for iPhone
According to reliable leaks, it will be the biggest visual change since iOS 7. It could even surpass that radical 2013 redesign.

The interface is expected to feature transparency effects and an "atmospheric" style, inspired by visionOS. The project's code name is Solarium.
Native apps with a new look
The update includes apps like Apple Music, which will have new animations on the lock screen. There will also be more customization options.
Even the Notes app will add support for Markdown, allowing for more technical text formatting.

What does Apple Intelligence bring?
Artificial intelligence will have slight improvements, although its openness to developers for new integrations will be key.
A major new feature will be the arrival of Gemini (Google), as is already the case with ChatGPT in Siri. A battery-saving feature powered by AI was also leaked.

What about Siri?
The new Siri with an LLM model will not be ready yet. It is expected for iOS 27, although there could be progress in versions 26.1 or 26.2.
Changes in Messages: translation and polls
iMessage will add a real-time translator and polls for group chats.
In addition, support for RCS messaging will be updated, with features such as editing, undoing sends, or quoting previous messages.
Which iPhones will be able to update to iOS 26?
Everything indicates that iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR will be left out. This is a significant change compared to previous versions.
These are the compatible models, in addition to the upcoming iPhone 17:
- iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd gen - 2020)
- iPhone 12 / 12 mini / 12 Pro / 12 Pro Max
