Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday called on Muslim countries to break diplomatic relations with Israel amid growing tension over an attack carried out by Israel against Hamas terrorist leaders on Qatari territory.

Pezeshkian made these statements before departing for Doha, where an emergency summit with leaders from the Arab and Islamic world is being held to respond to the attack.

"Islamic countries must cut their ties with this false regime and maintain unity and cohesion as much as possible," Pezeshkian declared, expressing his hope that the meeting will conclude with concrete measures against Israel.

The Israeli attack, carried out in Doha, the capital of a country allied with the United States, has provoked strong condemnation in the Islamic region. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday demanded that the international community reject "double standards" and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

The emergency summit is expected to be attended by leaders such as Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, who already arrived in Doha on Sunday. It is still unknown whether Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will attend.

According to Qatar's foreign ministry, the purpose of the meeting will be to debate a draft resolution on the Israeli attack on Qatari soil. Meanwhile, Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israeli actions have gone beyond the framework of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and accused Israel of regional expansionism. He emphasized the need for a unified response from the Arab and Islamic world.

Experts believe that Gulf countries will use the summit to pressure the United States and demand greater security guarantees.

Qatar, which hosts the largest U.S. military base in the region, has played a key role in mediating the Israel-Hamas conflict, along with Egypt and the United States.

However, the recent Israeli attack has complicated negotiations on a new ceasefire agreement backed by Washington and has further strained the U.S. position.

President Donald Trump, despite showing solidarity with Israel by sending his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, admitted that his administration was not informed of the attack in advance. Rubio stated that the president was "unhappy" with the situation and that they must now "look ahead and see what's next."

Rubio is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the repercussions of the attack in Doha, the upcoming Israeli offensive in Gaza City, and proposals to annex parts of the West Bank. He also visited the Western Wall with Netanyahu, reaffirming the U.S. commitment to Israel and declaring that Jerusalem is the "eternal capital" of the Hebrew State.

Meanwhile, Hamas leaders hope that the summit in Doha will culminate in a "unified and decisive Arab-Islamic position" in response to Israel's actions, underscoring the critical importance of the meeting.
