Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday called on Muslim countries to break diplomatic relations with Israel amid growing tension over an attack carried out by Israel against Hamas terrorist leaders on Qatari territory.
Pezeshkian made these statements before departing for Doha, where an emergency summit with leaders from the Arab and Islamic world is being held to respond to the attack.
"Islamic countries must cut their ties with this false regime and maintain unity and cohesion as much as possible," Pezeshkian declared, expressing his hope that the meeting will conclude with concrete measures against Israel.
The Israeli attack, carried out in Doha, the capital of a country allied with the United States, has provoked strong condemnation in the Islamic region. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday demanded that the international community reject "double standards" and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

The emergency summit is expected to be attended by leaders such as Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, who already arrived in Doha on Sunday. It is still unknown whether Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will attend.
According to Qatar's foreign ministry, the purpose of the meeting will be to debate a draft resolution on the Israeli attack on Qatari soil. Meanwhile, Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israeli actions have gone beyond the framework of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and accused Israel of regional expansionism. He emphasized the need for a unified response from the Arab and Islamic world.
