According to what the survivors recounted, the strikers arrived at the place with the excuse of 'preaching'

An Islamist terrorist group carried out a massacre of extreme brutality in the Nigerian state of Kwara, where they killed at least 170 people after deceiving the inhabitants of a village with a false religious gathering.
The attack took place in the town of Woro and left a scene of devastation that, three days later, was still marked by mass burials, charred buildings, and entire communities in a state of shock.
According to survivors, the strikers arrived in the village under the pretext of preaching and called on residents to gather to pray. The strategy allowed the victims to gather without suspicion before the slaughter began.

“When they said they were coming to preach, people believed they were coming to preach; that is why they caused so many injuries and killed so many people”, Muhammed Abdulkareem told Reuters. “When the shooting started, people said this was no longer preaching, that it was not normal, and they started running to hide”, he added.
Testimonies agree that the attack was carried out with extreme violence and in a selective manner. The terrorists systematically killed men, including children, while they kidnapped women and girls.
“They kill anyone they see; they only do not touch women, but if you are a man, no matter how small you are, they kill you”, another resident recounted. The same witness added: “They took our women to the bush, but they killed all the men they saw, and they burned all the shops; the chief's house was reduced to ashes”.
The scenes after the attack reflected the magnitude of the tragedy. The survivors of the community wrapped the bodies in white cloths and loaded them onto trucks to transport them to burial sites.

“They killed more than two hundred people; tomorrow we will continue packing the corpses to go and bury them”, stated Umaru Abdullahi, another witness of the brutal jihadist attack.
After the massacre, Nigeria's president, Bola Tinubu, ordered the deployment of an army battalion in the Kaiama district. It is the deadliest attack recorded this year in the state of Kwara, a border region with Niger where jihadist groups have advanced southward.
The United States Government condemned the “terrible attack” carried out in the communities of Woro and Nulu, which left at least 175 dead, according to local leaders. Meanwhile, the Government of Nigeria attributed the massacre to the jihadist group Boko Haram.
