Netanyahu's government ordered increased security and stricter controls after a Jordanian driver killed two soldiers at the Allenby Crossing

The State of Israel decided to close two border crossings with Jordan following the terrorist attack on Thursday that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers at the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge, a strategic area between Jordan and the West Bank.
The Airports Authority of Israel confirmed that the Allenby crossing and the Jordan River crossing will remain closed indefinitely. This is a direct blow to regional security, as the Allenby crossing is the only land exit to foreign countries for millions of Palestinians in the West Bank.
Netanyahu demands stricter controls
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded new security measures for trucks transporting humanitarian aid to Gaza from Jordan. "I ask that drivers go through metal detectors and that each truck be thoroughly inspected," the leader declared, holding Jordan responsible for not preventing the attack.
The striker, a Jordanian citizen who was driving a truck with aid destined for Gaza, was shot dead at the scene by the Israel Defense Forces. The incident raised alarms about the infiltration of hostile elements under the cover of humanitarian aid.

Reactions in the region
The government of Jordan condemned the attack but distanced itself from responsibility, warning that what happened represents "a threat to the interests of the kingdom." In contrast, the terrorist group Hamas celebrated the attack, calling it "a message" against Israel's operations in Gaza, once again showing its explicit support for terrorism.
The situation creates additional tension at a key point for trade between Israel and Jordan, and reinforces the debate about the role Amman plays in controlling those crossing into Israeli territory.

A clear message against the terrorist threat
With the closure of the crossings and the decision to strengthen security protocols, Israel sends an unequivocal message: it won't tolerate terrorist infiltrations nor allow humanitarian aid to be used as an excuse to attack its citizens and soldiers.
The attack at the Allenby Bridge reflects the constant challenges Israel faces in terms of security and reaffirms the need for its government to maintain absolute control over borders and strategic access points.
