In a regional context marked by political tensions and complaints of human rights violations, President Javier Milei led a meeting full of symbolism at the Casa Rosada: he received the Argentinian gendarme Nahuel Gallo, who was recently released after being detained for 448 days in Venezuela by decision of the regime led by the narco-dictator, Nicolás Maduro. The president was accompanied by ministers Alejandra Monteoliva and Pablo Quirno, as well as by Senator Patricia Bullrich, one of the main leaders of the ruling party in matters of security.
The meeting, which began a few minutes late, constitutes the first face-to-face contact between Milei and the first corporal of the National Gendarmerie since his return to the country on Sunday, March 1, after a release that was made possible thanks to institutional efforts in which the Argentine Football Association intervened. From Balcarce 50, they explained that the delay in completing the meeting responded to a decision by the Executive - channeled through the Ministry of Security - to allow cash to be gradually reintegrated into their daily lives and reunited with their family
after the prolonged captivity. Javier Milei and Nahuel Gallo Gallo arrived at Casa Rosada after 4 p.m., where he waited with officials and the senator until the President finished recording an interview with economists Antonio Aracre and Marcelo Castiñeiras, which will be broadcast at 23 o'clock on Public Television.
Prior to this meeting, Gallo's only official contacts with the Government had been precisely Monteoliva and Quirno, who received him at Ezeiza Airport.
They also participated in the press conference on March 5 at the Sentinel Building of the National Gendarmerie, where the gendarme appeared with his family: his wife María Alexandra Gómes and their son Víctor.
On that occasion, Gallo described the ordeal experienced in the Rodeo I detention center, located on the outskirts of Caracas, although he asked for caution when recounting his experience: “I don't want to tell the things and the atrocities they did. I can't yet, I don't feel ready. I ask you for my time. I don't talk to everyone because I asked for it, I want time. I want to discern information that has passed a long time, almost 15 months. I don't know anything about anyone, about my family, about the institution, about the country.”
Nahuel Gallo received at Casa Rosada Over the days, the cash was summoned by Patricia Bullrich to a meeting in Congress, together with government legislators, and then returned to her native province, Catamarca.
There he was received by Governor Raúl Jalil at the Government House, where they discussed the situation of political prisoners who are still being held in detention in Venezuela. The relationship between Gallo and Bullrich was quickly consolidated: the gendarme was even invited by the legislator to attend a play starring her husband, Guillermo Yanco, at the New La Casona Theater on Corrientes Street
.
At the same time, the official agenda remained active: Foreign Minister Quirno accompanied the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, in a meeting with authorities from ProArgentinaand representatives of the meat sector to announce the Argentine Meat Week in the United States, which will take place from April 27 to May 1 inPhiladelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles, with the aim of boosting exports.

Once the meeting between Milei and Gallo began, members of the Military House delimited the perimeter before the accredited press, a common practice in the movements of the head of state inside the Government Palace
.
The Gallo case refers to one of the most sensitive episodes in recent international matters: he was arrested on December 8, 2024 at the border crossing ofSan Antonio del Táchira, when entering from Colombia. He remained incommunicado and isolated for more than a year, until his release came to fruition after the intervention of the United States in Venezuela.
Since his return, the gendarme has maintained an active demand for the release of Germán Giuliani, identified as the last Argentine still kidnapped by the Chavista regime, in a case that the government of Javier Milei has already established as a priority on its international agenda.
