Mercenary K, Roberto Navarro, was assaulted while walking down the street.

The incident, without police reports, suspects, or arrests, sparked a wave of condemnation in left-wing circles

Violence returned to the center of public debate next weekend, after the media communicator and businessman Roberto Navarro was attacked from behind in the middle of a public street while walking through the downtown area of Buenos Aires.

The incident occurred in the afternoon, when an as-yet-unidentified person unexpectedly struck him on the back of the neck without a word. The assault was reported by El Destape Radio, a media outlet founded and directed by Navarro, through the program hosted by journalist Mariano Martín. "His face is completely swollen, very bruised," the host expressed live.

Despite the violent impact, Navarro managed to transport himself to a private clinic, where he underwent medical check-ups. According to his colleagues, the journalist is out of danger, although he shows visible signs of the blow.

In the program Palo y Zanahoria, also broadcast by the same channel, they reported that "his family and his circle were already trying to attend to him" upon arriving at the medical center. So far, no formal complaint has been filed with the City Police, and there are no detainees or identified suspects.

The news caused an immediate reaction of solidarity from various sectors of journalism and politics. El Destape journalist Ari Lijalad was one of the first to speak out: "I condemn the cowardly attack on Roberto Navarro while he was walking through the downtown area of Buenos Aires and was attacked from behind. My solidarity with him."

In the same vein, Jon Heguier expressed himself, posting on the social network X: "Today's Argentina. Hugs and strength @robdnavarro." From the political sphere, representatives of the Left Front spoke out, such as Myriam Bregman, who sent her support to the host. Her bloc colleague, Jujuy deputy Alejandro Vilca, echoed Lijalad's message and added his own condemnation of the incident.

Legislator Nicolás del Caño joined the condemnation from his official account, on behalf of the Socialist Workers Party (PTS) and the Left Front (FIT): "From the PTS deputies' bloc and the Left Front, we condemn this cowardly attack on Roberto Navarro."

National deputy Esteban Paulón (Socialist Party – Santa Fe) also spoke out, linking the case to another recent episode of press restrictions: "Serious street attack on Roberto Navarro. It adds to today's attack at Casa Rosada against Fabián Waldman, who was prevented from entering and doing his job. Solidarity with both and may Roberto recover soon."

The general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, also condemned the episode and warned: "We can't normalize attacks on freedom of expression in democracy." The Buenos Aires Press Union (SiPreBA) published a brief statement on social media: "Our condemnation and solidarity with Roberto Navarro."

From a personal standpoint, Carlos Maslatón also referred to the attack, pointing against anti-democratic sectors: "Is fascism so afraid of journalist Roberto Navarro? Sadly, since 1983 in Argentina, the right is much more intolerant and anti-democratic than the left, and I say this as a right-winger. They're crazy, it's suicide to attack or kill both journalists and priests. My solidarity with the victim, for his speedy recovery."

Roberto Navarro founded El Destape in 2017, starting as a project on digital platforms like YouTube, where he resumed his program, and over time it became established as a digital radio and news portal. Currently, Navarro keeps a journalistic activity with a daily program from Monday to Friday, broadcast live.
