Juan Pablo Varsky was questioned for his comment on Franco Mastantuono's amazing goal.

The TNT Sports commentator provoked the anger of River fans with his explanation of the youth player's free-kick goal

In yesterday afternoon's Superclásico, River defeated 2-1 against Boca, thanks to goals by Franco Mastantuono and Sebastián Driussi. In the stunning goal scored by the 17-year-old, Juan Pablo Varsky's comment during the broadcast caught attention, in which he downplayed the playmaker's merit somewhat.

The commentator on TNT Sports Premium broadcasts alongside Pablo Giralt found himself at the center of controversy after his assessment of River's gem's goal. In his description, he attributed much of the merit to the player, but also highlighted the influence of the wind, a climatic factor that was felt throughout the match.

"He has the advantage of the wind, which can stop it. The wind does the last part of the work. But 99% is the work of the 17-year-old," was Varsky's phrase during the broadcast, after Mastantuono's spectacular finish in his first Superclásico as a starter at the Monumental.

Varsky's comment about the wind's influence provoked reactions from several River fans, who argue that 100% of the merit belongs to the young midfielder. On social media, users didn't let the comment pass and reacted strongly, causing "Varsky," "Mastantuono," and "the wind" to become trending on X.

Varsky is from Boca

A week ago, Flavio Azzaro and Ernesto Cherquis Bialo had a chat with Juan Pablo Varsky on the show "No Podemos Perder" on AZZ where they talked about everything.

Three people are sitting around a table in a studio decorated with sports jerseys and posters, while talking and drinking.

During the interview, one of the topics Azzaro raised with the journalist was whether he regretted declaring that he is a Boca fan. "You said you're from Boca and Boca fans insult you, and River fans call you a Bostero. Do you regret saying it?" the former member of Fútbol al Horno asked him.

Varsky's response was blunt: "I don't regret saying it. I said it 24 years ago with Matías Martín. Some will call me Bostero, but I have no problem in any stadium. The flood of mentions is aggressive, but in person, I have no problem."

This way, Varsky made it clear that he is aware of the exposure to these types of situations, although, as happened after yesterday's Superclásico between River and Boca, the attacks mostly occur through social media.
