Former Córdoba Governor Juan Schiaretti announced that he will take his seat in the Chamber of Deputies starting in February.

He did so through his social media accounts, where he explained that he has been discharged from the hospital and is now able to resume his activities after undergoing heart surgery at the end of November.

The former presidential candidate had not been able to take part in the swearing-in ceremony that was held on December 3 in the lower house because of his health condition.

The leader of Córdoba Peronism will arrive in the National Congress this year after finishing second with the Provincias Unidas list in the October elections, behind La Libertad Avanza.

How Juan Schiaretti's heart surgery went

On November 28, Schiaretti underwent heart surgery at Fundación Favaloro.

The procedure consisted of the replacement of the aortic valve by catheterization, a less invasive technique than conventional surgery.

It was a procedure that had been scheduled for some time and that was carried out on medical advice.

"Former Córdoba Governor Juan Schiaretti underwent heart surgery on Friday the 28th for the replacement of the aortic valve by catheterization at Fundación Favaloro in the city of Buenos Aires. The procedure was successful and he is recovering in the coronary care unit of that medical center," his inner circle reported after the surgery.
