The 2026 mid-year transfer market promises to be one of the most hectic in recent years in Europe. In that scenario, the name of Julián Álvarez emerges, who could bring his cycle at Atlético de Madrid to an end after two seasons and whose future could be linked to Barcelona.
The striker's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, spoke with Jota Jordi on the program “Sólo para Culés” and confirmed that the Catalans showed interest. "My understanding is that Atlético de Madrid received many calls, but always, based on what I've discussed with the directors, Atlético's position in this market is that Julián finishes the season at the club," he stated.
When asked whether the world champion with Argentina is attracted by the idea of wearing the Barça jersey, Hidalgo was clear: "Yes, obviously. Julián admires Spanish clubs and, obviously, since he followed Leo's (Messi's) career as a child, I don't think there are many Argentinians who don't have a feeling for Barça. Especially this season, because of how Barça played, Julián is very grateful to many Barça players for how they spoke about him."
