The Tucumán Justice ordered four months of preventive detention for Marcelo “Pichón” Segura, the man who attacked Federico Pelli, the national representative of La Libertad Avanza, with a violent headbutt, during an operation to help families affected by floods in the south of the province.
The measure was ordered this Friday during the indictment hearing. The prosecutor Miguel Ángel Varela charged the aggressor with the crime of serious injuries aggravated by malevolence, while the Public Ministry requested preventive detention to ensure the conduct of the investigation
.
Segura was transferred to the Benjamín Paz prison, where he will remain in detention while the judicial case progresses. The prosecution pointed out that the measure is justified by the seriousness of the incident and by the risk that the defendant will hinder the investigation, especially given the need to identify other possible parties involved
in the episode.Assistant prosecutor Juan José Ibáñez said during the hearing that the attack had a strong institutional impact, since the victim is a national deputy. He also noted that the videos that circulated on social networks clearly show the participation of the accused and the way in which the assault occurred
.In addition, the researchers seek to identify other people who participated in the moment of tension prior to the attack and recover the cell phone of the accused, who claimed to have lost it during the incident.
