After months of speculation, public appearances, and discreet meetings, the American singer decided to make the relationship official on her social media, and the news quickly went viral.
Perry posted on December 6 a gallery of photos and videos from Japan, the country where she is currently for her The Lifetimes Tour.
Among the images of stages, landscapes, and intimate travel moments, references to Trudeau became visible to her followers, who already suspected the connection.
In November, the artist had also visited Madrid and Barcelona as part of her tour, but it was her stay in Tokyo that ultimately made the relationship public.
On December 3, both visited former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. Kishida himself shared a photo on his Instagram account during the meeting, posing next to a Christmas tree.
In the post, Perry was introduced as Trudeau's partner, confirming what had already been circulating for weeks.

He also recalled their previous political connection: "During his time as head of government, we met on multiple occasions as prime ministers and, during his visit to Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including the development of the 'Japan-Canada Action Plan.' I'm very glad that we can continue to maintain this friendship."
Perry, meanwhile, accompanied her post with a simple and happy message: "Tokyo times on tour and more", making it clear that Trudeau's presence is part of that "more."
