Summit of Kirchnerist mayors in Villa María: they gathered to lament Milei

Kirchnerist mayors are joining forces to criticize Milei, but they aren't reducing their own political staff either

Last Tuesday, Villa María hosted a summit of Cordoban mayors organized by Kirchnerist Eduardo Accastello. In this meeting, a "common agenda" of work was discussed to confront Javier Milei's political "chainsaw." However, many of these mayors are unaware that their economic crisis is largely the result of their inability to properly manage resources.

Among the signatories of the common agenda were the Kirchnerist mayors of Córdoba Capital, Daniel Passerini, and San Francisco, Damián Bernarte. These leaders, who criticize the national government without grounds, have been unable to adjust their own structures. Instead of cutting expenses and improving efficiency in their municipalities, they have continued expanding their political staff and reinforcing unnecessary superstructures.

In his speech, Kirchnerist Passerini completely omitted that in his improvised administration, no spending cuts have been made. On the contrary, political structures that do not help solve citizens' problems have been maintained and expanded. The lack of concrete actions to reduce public spending and the excessive bureaucracy in many municipalities contrasts with the criticism these same mayors direct at the national government.

Electoral Opportunism

Instead of seeking efficient solutions, many of these mayors keep increasing bureaucracy and expanding their political staff. This model, which expands their political staff instead of prioritizing cuts to the political class, is the real cause of the municipal crisis. Meanwhile, the pressure on citizens and municipal finances continues to grow.

The mayors keep creating unnecessary agencies to debate among themselves, which only increases public spending. Instead of focusing on effective solutions, they keep adding bureaucracy. The real solution to the lack of budget is to reduce expenses and manage more efficiently.

The pseudo-unity speech presented in Villa María sounds hollow when these local leaders have not made any effort to adjust their administrations. Instead of reducing spending, a costly political structure that is unsustainable for citizens has continued to expand. The real question is whether these leaders are doing what is necessary to correct administration in their own territories.
