Konami conditions future remakes on the success of Metal Gear Solid Delta.
Konami confirmed that the success of Metal Gear Solid Delta will determine whether there will be more remakes of the saga
Konami has confirmed that the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise will depend on the reception of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the classic espionage game. The title will be available starting August 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Producers Yuji Korekado and Noriaki Okamura stated that commercial performance and player interest will determine whether new remakes are developed in the coming years.
Motivations behind the remake
The company explained that it chose Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater because it is the first in the saga's chronology, which makes it easier for new players to start from the beginning. In addition, there is a solid base of veteran fans who have kept interest in the series alive.
Okamura and Korekado emphasized that Konami seeks to bring the saga closer to new generations, maintaining the essence of the original works while also training young developers who will work alongside veterans from the original team.
The decision is also related to the release of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which allows the storyline to continue after Delta.

Future remakes and fan expectations
According to Konami, the possibility of remaking other titles will depend on Delta's success. Korekado indicated that if the community shows interest, they could move forward with new versions. One of the most requested titles is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, exclusive to PlayStation 3 since 2008 and requested by fans for its arrival on current consoles.
Okamura added that Konami is open to exploring not only remakes but also new proposals within the Metal Gear universe, although for now all attention is focused on Delta.
The absence of Hideo Kojima

The future of Metal Gear continues to be marked by the absence of Hideo Kojima, creator of the saga, who parted ways with Konami and is currently working on independent projects such as Physint, a spiritual sequel to Metal Gear still in the conceptual stage for PlayStation 5, as well as the OD project in collaboration with Xbox.
Although Kojima stated that he will not play the new remake, Okamura expressed his admiration for the creator and did not rule out a possible collaboration in the future.
A turning point for the franchise
The release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be key to measuring the saga's relevance in today's market. If it achieves the expected success, it could open the door to new installments, both remakes and original projects, consolidating Metal Gear as one of the most influential franchises in the industry.
