LeBron James has closed a historic chapter with the Los Angeles Lakers. After eight seasons with the California franchise, the top figure in the NBA over the last decade will not continue with the team and is already considering what the next destination will be for a career that will remain active, despite speculation about a possible retirement.
The news was confirmed by his representative, Rich Paul. Shortly after, the Lakers officially announced the departure of the 41-year-old forward through a statement signed by the franchise's co-owner, Jeanie Buss.
"LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes of all time. We are deeply grateful for everything he contributed during these eight years and he will always be part of the Lakers family," the executive expressed.
