The arrival of Pope Leo XIV in Argentina opened an unexpected dispute in the City of Buenos Aires after the organizers of the so-called "Pride March" refused to change the date of the mobilization, scheduled for November 7, just one day before the Supreme Pontiff's arrival in the country.

The city government requested to move the event to November 21 due to the need to concentrate security forces, emergency services, and logistical resources for the special operation surrounding the papal visit. According to reports, the request does not exclusively apply to the Pride March, but to the mass events planned for that weekend.

However, the Organizing Committee of the Pride March confirmed that it will maintain the call for Saturday, November 7, arguing that the City has sufficient resources to simultaneously guarantee both events.

The lobby organizers argued that changing the date would mean altering a plan made over months, despite the responsibility of government authorities to communicate the situation almost two months before the event.

The City had offered as an alternative to hold the march on November 21 and guarantee the necessary logistics. The organization rejected that possibility and also questioned that the city executive had warned that, if the original date were to be maintained, it would not be able to provide the same support through stages, bathrooms, ambulances, and other services.

The controversy arises on the eve of one of the most important international visits that Argentina will receive in recent years. The Vatican officially confirmed that Leo XIV will tour Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17. In Argentine territory, he will stay from November 8 to 11 and will visit Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján.

The Pontiff will arrive from Uruguay on Sunday, November 8. According to the information released about his agenda, during his time in Buenos Aires, a meeting with President Javier Milei and various religious and institutional activities are also planned.
