Mark and Patricia McCloskey recovered their rifle after a lengthy legal process for confronting violent left-wing Black Lives Matter protesters

It was June 28, 2020, when, at the height of the African American terrorist movement Black Lives Matter, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, a married couple of attorneys from St. Louis, went viral for defending themselves with weapons from terrorists who were harassing their home.
The couple's AR-15 rifle was seized by authorities shortly after the incident, in which both went out armed into their yard to confront violent protesters who had entered their property by breaking a gate and ignoring "no trespassing" signs.
The event, which took place during the nationwide protests over the overdose death of the criminal George Floyd, was widely shared on social media and has recently had a satisfactory outcome, since after a prolonged and complex legal battle that lasted more than five years, the McCloskeys have recovered their weapon.

The McCloskeys celebrate the recovery of the rifle.
Mark McCloskey celebrated the recovery of the rifle with a post on X, where he wrote: "It only took three lawsuits, two trips to the Court of Appeals, and 1,847 days, but I got my AR-15 back." The attorney accompanied the message with photos of himself carrying the weapon.
In another post, McCloskey attached a video picking up the rifle at the police station, reaffirming his stance of not backing down in the face of ideological persecution. "This rifle may only be worth about $1,500, but it took me a lot of time and effort to get it back. Still, it had to be done. You have to let them know you'll never give up."
The Republican attorney also noted that he hopes the weapon wielded by his wife Patricia during the altercation, a pistol that ended up in the hands of the St. Louis Sheriff's Department, will be returned to them in the coming days.

The couple was persecuted by the Democrats.
The then district attorney Kim Gardner, an extreme left-wing Democrat, had filed charges against the couple for unlawful use of weapons, even though the state attorney general, Republican Eric Schmitt, opposed the couple being charged.
In 2021, the McCloskeys had to plead guilty to misdemeanors: fourth-degree assault and second-degree harassment. However, they did so knowing that they would subsequently be pardoned by then Missouri Governor Mike Parson.
Last month, a court of appeals confirmed the expungement of the McCloskeys' criminal records, something that, according to state law, means that legally it is as if the incident never happened.

The McCloskeys and the cult of self-defense.
Mark McCloskey, who has also ventured into politics as a Republican candidate, has remained firm in his stance. "If you've been wronged, if the leftist government has abused its power, you can't give up," he stated. "You can't allow them to take even an inch."
The case has once again placed the couple at the center of the political debate in the United States over citizens' rights, the legitimate use of weapons, and state intervention in matters of security and private property.
For the McCloskeys, the recovery of the rifle is not only symbolic, but also a vindication of their constitutional right to self-defense in the face of threats that come politically from the progressive agenda carried out by the Democratic Party.
