Milei's government seeks to challenge PRO for control of the district it has managed for the last 18 years

The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, will be the candidate for La Libertad Avanza, the party of President Javier Milei, for the local elections in the City of Buenos Aires.

According to confirmations from the Casa Rosada, Karina Milei's trusted man will lead the list of legislators in the elections scheduled for May 18.

Adorni's name had been gaining traction for weeks, especially since the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri, decided to separate the Buenos Aires elections from the national ones. The major bet of the ruling party in 2025 is to challenge PRO for control of the district that it has managed for the last 18 years.

The spokesperson himself had indicated in recent interviews that he would have no issues running if the President required it. "I'll be in the role he assigns me. I'll support the ideas. If he asks me for something, I have to comply or go home," he stated in a conversation with TN.

From his close circle, they had been assuring for weeks that he had no interest in competing. They argued that it was a minor position for his rank and aspirations, and they saw no reason to get involved in a contest that will be highly contested with PRO.

Nevertheless, he kept his word and will run as a candidate for La Libertad Avanza to bring to the City the model and ideas that President Javier Milei is implementing at the national level.

Adorni will be accompanied, as has been revealed, by a Banco Nación official and by the head of the State Property Administration (AABE), Nicolás Pakgojz.

With this confirmation, other names that were under consideration were ruled out: the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich; the Head of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger; and Daniel Parisini, alias "Gordo Dan", member of "Las Fuerzas del Cielo".
