With no official competitions until 2026, River is already planning a deep restructuring with the goal of turning the page on a complicated season. In this regard, Marcelo Gallardo has informed internally that several players will not remain at the club as of December 31.

Four "Madrid Heroes" among the confirmed departures

Muñeco's talk included big names, many of them idols and protagonists of the historic 2018 Madrid final won against Boca. Ignacio Fernández, Milton Casco, Gonzalo "Pity" Martínez, and Enzo Pérez were notified that they are not in the plans for 2026. Their contracts expire at the end of the year and there was never any real intention to renew them, but the coach decided to confirm it personally.

In Enzo Pérez's case, in recent days there were rumors that he could continue, although in a role more similar to Leonardo Ponzio in his final stage: captain without the armband, locker room leader, and with fewer minutes. The other two players with an expiration date

In addition to the key figures, River will part ways with two more players: Miguel Ángel Borja and Federico Gattoni. Regarding the Colombian forward, his contract ends at the end of the year and he will not be renewed due to the low level shown recently, while the former San Lorenzo player, who was never part of the coach's plans, finishes his loan and must return to Sevilla, where he will also not be considered.

The coach's doubts

The restructuring doesn't end with the key figures. Although they were not "cut" by Gallardo, there are other players who could leave the club if a convincing offer appears. The clearest case is Paulo Díaz, left out of the last two matches and with the possibility of leaving.

Based on the premise that no member of the squad is indispensable, Sebastián Boselli, Jeremías Ledesma, Fabricio Bustos, and Facundo Colidio also have chances to leave, and their situations will be evaluated in the coming weeks.
