The current Racing midfielder was ordered to return an advance that Xeneize gave him in 2019 for a house
The long and tense relationship between Boca and Agustín Almendra has added a decisive chapter: the civil court has ordered the midfielder to return US$769,231 to the club, an amount he received in 2019 as an advance for the purchase of a home during Daniel Angelici's administration. According to the ruling, the money was considered a formal loan and therefore had to be repaid.
The conflict began when Almendra became a free agent in mid-2023 after a departure marked by slammed doors, acts of indiscipline, and clashes with the Football Council. Faced with his refusal to return the advance, Xeneize filed a civil lawsuit to recover the sum.
The ruling, announced in recent days, states that the current midfielder for Racingwill have ten days to make the deposit once the decision becomes final. If he fails to comply, the club may request the forced execution of the debt, which allows measures such as asset seizures or income garnishment.
Almendra's departure from Boca
After a few good early years (69 matches, 6 goals, 4 assists, and 6 titles), the midfielder was removed from the first team in February 2022 after a heated argument with Sebastián Battaglia. Although it seemed to be the coach's decision, the midfielder never played again under Hugo Ibarra or Jorge Almirón. Meanwhile, his relationship with part of the squad had also broken down, especially with Darío Benedetto.
Almendra se fue mal de Boca
With the coaches not considering him, the management rejected an offer of more than two million dollars from Almería in 2022 and interest from Rayo Vallecano in January 2023. When he finally left as a free agent, Almendra published a farewell message with direct criticism: "This farewell is not what I expected; unfortunately, I had no other option due to several offers that were rejected by the club (…)The true Boca fans are more important than any temporary management".
Now, the court ruling brings the parties together again, but in a strictly economic and legal context. While Boca awaits the return of the money, Almendra faces a significant financial burden at a time when he was seeking to leave behind the conflicts from his time at the club.
