Mario Pergolini surprised everyone on his show Otro día perdido (El Trece) by sharing an unusual anecdote with Lionel Messi. The host recalled the day he met the captain of the Argentine national team and revealed an unexpected detail about the encounter.
The story aired just as it marked 21 years since Messi's professional debut. To celebrate the date, the show's production team prepared a special report reviewing the best moments of the Rosario native.

The meeting between Pergolini and Messi in the locker room
"I hosted a match at River's stadium when the national team was saying goodbye," Pergolini began. "The only condition I set to do it was to be able to go with my son Matías and for both of us to enter the locker room," he added.
According to his recollection, the agreement was fulfilled and his son had the chance to meet his idols. "When Messi saw him, he started playing with him. He passed the ball to him, my son passed it back, and then Messi passed it to me," he recounted, laughing.
The unexpected ending
What seemed like a perfect moment ended in the worst way. "I touched the ball and broke the only window in the entire place. I swear," the host said, causing everyone present to burst out laughing.
Immediately afterward came the comment that marked the end of the story: "Messi looked at me and said: 'you're terrible'". Pergolini emphasized that the number ten said it only to him and that, probably, no one else in the world has ever heard that phrase from his mouth.
A reunion he can't imagine
Laughing, Pergolini clarified that Messi would hardly agree to be a guest on his show. "I criticized him quite a lot before the 2022 World Cup: I said a lot of things... I can't erase what I did," he admitted.
