In the middle of summer in Punta del Este, Martín Demichelis was caught in an intense conversation with his partner, Micaela Benítez, first at a beach bar and then inside a pickup truck.
Marked gestures, abrupt movements, and an atmosphere of evident tension were enough for social networks and entertainment shows to talk about a heated argument.
The episode took place after an outing at a local restaurant, when the young woman stood up from the table and headed to the parking lot.
Minutes later, the former player went after her and got into the vehicle on the passenger side.
The conversation, visible through the windshield, became the center of attention for those who were at the place and for the cameras that later broadcast the images.
In some footage, Demichelis is even seen getting out of the car and asking the beach bar's security to clear the parking lot, in an attempt to preserve the privacy of the moment.

From that point on, rumors began to circulate that spoke of shouting, crying, and even an alleged intervention by third parties.
Amid the media commotion, Micaela Benítez decided to break her silence and explain what really happened. She did so through an exchange of messages with Oliver Quiróz, a reporter for the show A la Tarde (América TV), where she sought to provide reassurance and deny the most sensational rumors.
"You can talk to me directly to clear up all doubts", was the first message she sent, signaling her intention to clarify the situation.
One of the most repeated reports suggested that the argument had to do with a supposed "public acknowledgment" of the relationship.
However, the young woman was emphatic in denying it: "Far from it, Oliver. I will also clarify for you that there was never any violence, or shouting, or crying, nor did any security staff come over like they are saying."
According to her explanation, the decision to get into the car was solely a matter of privacy. "The issue is private and it remains between us, which is why we went to talk in the car", she stated, distancing herself from any version that suggested a more serious conflict.
In a second message, Benítez reinforced the idea that the situation was blown out of proportion by those who observed the scene from the outside.
"Thank you for asking because they are exaggerating, we are doing super well", she maintained, and she defined the episode as "a conversation like any couple's," which ended up being amplified by media exposure and the presence of cameras in a public space.
