Huawei introduced the MatePad Mini, a compact and powerful tablet that arrives to compete with the iPad mini

Huawei introduced the  MatePad Mini, a compact tablet that targets the segment dominated by the iPad mini. With a premium design and exclusive features, the Chinese brand aims to position itself as one of the few real alternatives to Apple.

The presentation shows that Huawei completed its line of tablets with a small model that combines power, attractive design, and details that surpass its Cupertino competitor in some aspects.

A compact design with high-end specifications

The MatePad Mini is the company's thinnest and lightest tablet, with just 5.1 mm (0.20 inches) thickness and 255 grams (0.56 pounds) weight. Its 8.8-inch OLED display covers 92% of the front thanks to ultra-thin bezels. It offers an immersive experience with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

In the photography section, it surprises with a 50 MP rear camera accompanied by an 8 MP ultra wide-angle lens. The front camera reaches 32 MP, figures that are uncommon in this type of device.

Enhanced power and connectivity

Inside, it features the Kirin 9010 chip and runs with HarmonyOS 5.1. It includes support for the M-Pencil Pro stylus, designed for highly precise notes and drawings.

Its 6,400 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging promises good autonomy, while 3D heat dissipation ensures stable performance. Additionally, it offers 5G connectivity with a physical SIM slot, allowing calls and data usage, something the iPad mini doesn't provide in all its versions.

Colors and availability

The MatePad Mini will be available in three colors: Snow White, Obsidian Black, and Fir Green. According to Huawei, it will officially go on sale on September 12 in various markets, with several memory and storage configurations.
