The Ministry of Economy announced President Javier Milei's decision to move forward with a deep reorganization of the Argentine nuclear sector through the creation of the new Secretariat of Nuclear Affairs, an agency whose central mission will be to coordinate, supervise, and align all institutions linked to the country's nuclear development.
According to the economic portfolio, the initiative aims to provide greater cohesion to a key sector for technological and energy development. The official statement highlighted that "nuclear energy is a strategic resource that can change the economic matrix of our country" and recalled that Argentina has "75 years of history that place us in the select group of nations dedicated to the research and application of nuclear technologies for civilian purposes."

In this regard, Milei's government stated that the country has the conditions to become a central player in the global uranium industry. The statement emphasized that Argentina has the potential to become the "Saudi Arabia of Uranium" and that, to achieve this goal, it is essential that "the mining, energy, and nuclear sectors are aligned with this objective as their horizon."
The newly created Secretariat will be headed by Dr. Federico Ramos Napoli, who will report directly to the Ministry of Economy. Ramos Napoli held leadership positions at DIOXITEK S.A., first as general manager and later as president, a state-owned company responsible for the conversion of uranium intended for nuclear power plants and the production of Cobalt-60 sources.
During his tenure at that company, Ramos Napoli led negotiations to solve the shortage of uranium supply that was affecting the country's nuclear power plants. He also led an internal reorganization process that enabled "the elimination of the operating deficit, debt reduction, and record production" at DIOXITEK S.A.

His career also includes advisory work for NUCLEOELÉCTRICA S.A., where he contributed to an administrative restructuring, and collaborations with the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) in the development of a production and marketing plan for radioisotopes linked to the RA-10 project, one of the country's most significant scientific initiatives.
This professional background gives the new secretary a global perspective of the sector, which is why, according to the official statement, his profile is suitable to take on "the challenge that President Javier G. Milei has delegated to this Ministry." With this decision, the libertarian administration seeks to begin a new phase in Argentine nuclear development, in a context of broader reforms in energy and production.
