Milei received the Torch Award 2025 at the Liberty International World Conference.

The president was awarded for his fight for the global dissemination of the ideas of freedom

At the Liberty International World Conference held at Palacio Paz in Buenos Aires, President Javier Milei received the prestigious Freedom Torch 2025 Award, granted by Liberty International in recognition of his fight for the global dissemination of the ideas of liberty.

Before a large audience, the president reviewed the achievements of his administration, strongly criticized Kirchnerism, and called on Buenos Aires residents to "raise a cry of liberation" in the provincial elections in September.

"It's an honor to stand before all of you. I'm filled with pride to receive the Freedom Torch Award, particularly because I have made the defense of liberty the cause of my life," Milei stated at the beginning of his speech, where he also expressed his condolences for the murder of Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, "murdered for defending the ideas of liberty in his native country."

The head of state highlighted the reform process undertaken by his administration since December 2023. "If we take all the reforms, looking at them article by article, there are 8,000 structural reforms. Therefore, we are the most reformist government in Argentine history, and that's thanks to the Colossus, Federico Sturzenegger," he emphasized, referring to the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation.

One of the strongest points of his address was his criticism of so-called social justice. "It's clear that social justice is theft. It's unequal treatment before the law. Social justice is unjust, it's criminal, and dynamically it's perverse," he asserted, after citing scenes from the film Homo argentum, by Guillermo Francella, which exposes decent Argentines to criminals who use the state to steal.

Milei recalled the critical situation inherited upon taking office: "In December 2023, we received a country on the brink of the worst crisis in history. We had a situation worse than before Alfonsín, with an annual inflation rate of 250% that was accelerating."

According to his account, his government's economic program allowed inflation to be reduced to 25% annually: "Today, we have in one month what used to increase in one day. Now, it's on track to be completely eradicated by the middle of next year."

The President also highlighted the improvement in social indicators: "Thanks to this, we have lifted 12 million people out of poverty, while extreme poverty dropped from 20.2% to 7.3%." In the same vein, he emphasized the recovery of income: "The minimum pension has quadrupled, from 80 dollars to 320 dollars, and the average salary in the economy went from 300 dollars to 1,200 dollars."

In response to critics who anticipated a recession, Milei was defiant: "They said we were going to sink the economy into a great depression, but GDP has risen for three consecutive quarters with year-on-year growth of 5.8%. It seems many will have to start rewriting the textbooks."

The president delivered strong words against the Kirchnerist opposition. "A bad ruler is willing to set his country on fire just to retain power. That's Kirchnerism, and that's the monstrosity we are fighting against," he said, accusing that sector of operating with "disinformation campaigns, emotional extortion, and other sabotage maneuvers typical of the criminal left."

In an electoral tone, Milei called on citizens to support his political project. "This September 7, we invite Buenos Aires residents to join us in raising a cry of liberation. We are here to say: Kirchnerism never again," he urged. He warned that there are no third ways between liberty and Kirchnerism's model of decline.

Concluding his speech, he endorsed the definition of liberalism by Alberto Benegas Lynch (h), whom he honored: "Liberalism is the unrestricted respect for others' projects, based on the non-aggression principle, in defense of the right to life, liberty, and property."

Milei concluded with his characteristic cry: "We came to reverse these one hundred years of decline, because we came to make Argentina great again... Long live liberty, damn it!"
