President Javier Milei thanked the Donald Trump administration for the historic financial support granted to Argentina, within the framework of the swap agreement for USD 20,000 million and the direct purchase of pesos by the United States Treasury.
The message was published by the Argentine president on the social network X (formerly Twitter), where he also thanked Scott Bessent, Secretary of the Treasury, for his strong support for Argentina. "Together, as closest allies, we will build a hemisphere of economic freedom and prosperity. We will work hard every day to provide opportunities for our people," he concluded, highlighting Trump's leadership.
The expression of gratitude comes after Bessent announced a currency swap for 20,000 million dollars and the direct purchase of Argentine pesos for the first time in history, in support of the stabilization policies promoted by the Argentine economic team.
In an extensive statement, Bessent highlighted "Argentina's solid economic essentials" and assured that the United States government will act to support the country's fiscal adjustment and consolidation plan. "Only the United States can act quickly. We will act," the official stated, in a political signal of enormous magnitude for international markets.
