This Sunday, President Javier Milei publicly introduced his dog Conan, father of his other four pets, during a live broadcast aimed at raising funds for two animal shelters.
Without prior announcement, the president surprised the members of Neura by appearing unexpectedly in the studio located on Gorriti Street, in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, accompanied by his loyal companion.
Milei arrived at the location dressed in a YPF coverall and accompanied by his sister and Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, who also brought her dog, Thor.
“Here is Conan, you see he's real? They're good, but they're very territorial. Not with humans, but with other dogs they are” explained the libertarian leader as he justified the use of the leash.
Karina also showed her pet on camera and announced that, together with her brother, they will make a donation of one million pesos (2,205 pounds) to an animal shelter.
As he has explained on several occasions, the president stated that Conan is the father of his other four dogs, whose names pay tribute to figures of the Austrian School of Economics: Milton (after Friedman), Murray (after Rothbard), Robert, and Lucas.
“There were always animals in my parents' house, but the moment I became a fanatic was when my mother bought two German Shepherds. That's when something much more radicalized was caused” recalled the head of state.
When asked by a follower whether he will travel to Córdoba, President Milei revealed that he will be present at Derecha Fest Córdoba edition, the cultural battle event sponsored by La Derecha Diario: "We're going to Derecha Fest, we hadn't announced it publicly but we're going to Derecha Fest" the president anticipated.
During the broadcast, he also referred to the current political landscape. He harshly criticized the opposition sectors, whom he accused of acting with “meanness, baseness, desire for power” and added: “All they do is obstruct and destroy, it's the only thing they know how to do”.
