The National Ministry of Health, headed by Mario Lugones, celebrated the creation of the Official Response Office of the Argentine Republic, an initiative aimed at debunking fake news, pointing out specific falsehoods, and exposing political and media operations that circulate both in traditional media and on social networks.
"At the Ministry of Health, we experience operations and lies firsthand," Lugones stated on the social network X.
The official alluded to the lies that were told regarding Garrahan Hospital, among other issues.
"It was an attempt to establish that we were emptying Garrahan Hospital when we are organizing it. It was said that we were dismantling the Congenital Heart Disease Program when we are strengthening it," he added.

"We were even labeled as anti-vaccine, when vaccines are a central part of the national health policy," he indicated.
Lugones maintained that disinformation "harms people."
"The ones who are most harmed by disinformation are people. This is why I welcome the creation of the Official Response Office of the Argentine Republic, a measure that defends freedom and truth," he concluded.
The creation of the Official Response Office of the Argentine Republic
The Government made it clear that the objective of this body is not to impose a viewpoint or condition public debate, but to ensure that citizens can distinguish facts from narratives in a context where disinformation has become more aggressive and systematic.
The Executive Branch emphasized that "simply informing is not enough if lies advance without a response", and that the creation of this office means adding an official voice to debunk, not to censor.
Without censorship and with an explicit defense of freedom of expression
One of the central pillars of the announcement is the unrestricted defense of freedom of expression, a principle that the Government considers sacred.
In that sense, it was underlined that the Official Response Office doesn't seek to silence opponents, block content, or intervene in the circulation of opinions.
