Israel had been preparing for years for the impressive and successful military air offensive launched in the early hours of Friday against the nuclear and missile program of Iran, according to an Israeli official who spoke to The Times of Israel.
The preparations included the creation of a drone base within Iranian territory and the clandestine entry of precision weaponry and commandos into the country.
The operation, named "The Strength of a Lion," involved more than 200 aircraft from the Israeli Air Force during the initial offensive, in which more than 330 munitions were fired at approximately 100 targets, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The targets included key nuclear facilities of the regime, as well as high-ranking scientists and the entire military leadership of the country, including the right-hand man and close collaborator of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Officials in Israel described the attack as "precise" and "preemptive," arguing that there was no alternative but to strike the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic, which keeps its threat to destroy the Jewish State. The operation was based on meticulous planning between the Israel Defense Forces and the Mossad intelligence service.
According to the same source, Mossad agents established a drone base in an area near Tehran, inside Iran. These drones were activated during the night to attack surface-to-surface missile launch platforms that were aimed at Israeli territory.
Moreover, vehicles loaded with advanced weapons systems were also successfully smuggled into the country. These systems neutralized Iranian air defenses, allowing Israeli aircraft to achieve air superiority and operate freely over Iranian airspace.
A third covert component of the operation consisted of Mossad commandos deploying precision missiles near anti-aircraft installations located in the center of the Persian country.
The actions were made possible thanks to "innovative thinking, bold planning, and the surgical operation of advanced technologies, special forces, and agents operating in the heart of Iran while evading the eyes of local intelligence," according to the official.
