The name Muhammad has once again positioned itself as the most chosen for boys born in England and Wales during 2025, according to official data released by the British Office for National Statistics.
This marks the third consecutive year it has topped the list, once again surpassing Noah and Leo, who complete the top spots in the ranking.
In absolute terms, 5,957 newborns were registered with the name Muhammad over the past year, consolidating a trend that has already been observed in previous periods.

The statistical agency compiles its records considering the exact spelling of each name, without unifying variants. Even under this criterion, other forms of the same name also appear among the hundred most used: Mohammed ranked 20th and Mohammad 55th.
In total, these variants account for around 2,600 additional cases, reflecting the sustained presence of the name in different forms.

Among boys, the list following Muhammad includes Noah, Leo, Luca, Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore, and Freddie. Geographically, the official statistics show that Muhammad was the most chosen name in four of the nine regions of England, while in Wales it ranked 34th.
